Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the WTA Rome match.
World No. 62 Katerina Siniakova is set to face World No. 33 Olga Danilovic in the round of 1/64 finals at the WTA event in Rome. The winner of this match will progress to face Qinwen Zheng.
Katerina Siniakova
Katerina Siniakova's most promising recent showing came at Indian Wells, where she advanced to the round of 1/16 finals before suffering a straightforward defeat against Karolina Muchova (5:7, 1:6). Her form has since declined. She was eliminated early in Madrid, falling at the first hurdle to Katie Boulter (6:4, 2:6, 1:6). Even in a lower-tier Challenger event, she could only reach the quarter-finals, where she lost to World No. 112 Rebeka Masarova (3:6, 4:6).
Olga Danilovic
Olga Danilovic, in contrast, used her brief dip in form as a springboard. She entered a lower-tier tournament in Antalya and secured the title with relative ease. That success marked the start of a noticeable upswing. She then reached the final in Rouen, putting up a strong fight against Elina Svitolina (4:6, 6:7). Though her Madrid campaign ended early, it was against World No. 20 Ekaterina Alexandrova (3:6, 4:6). Now, she comes up against an opponent who has shown far less consistency of late.
Katerina Siniakova vs Olga Danilovic Prediction
Olga Danilovic is a regular feature at WTA 1000 tournaments, routinely progressing past the early stages. At this point, she looks like the more stable and composed player. With that in mind, there’s little to suggest an upset is likely — the favourite seems primed to deliver.
