Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the WTA Madrid match.
Katerina Siniakova has not featured in any matches over the past 30 days, while Katie Boulter has taken part in just one tournament during that period. Nevertheless, the Czech player has accumulated more victories this season.
Katie Boulter
The matches Boulter did contest in April were part of the Billie Jean King Cup, representing the national team. As the top-ranked player in her team, she contributed to their group-topping finish with a comeback victory over Tatjana Maria (1:6, 6:3, 6:1). Her subsequent loss to Suzan Lamens (4:6, 3:6) did not prevent the team from progressing to the quarter-finals. Her most recent singles outing on the WTA Tour came at the Miami Open, another WTA 1000 event, where she was defeated in the opening round by Peyton Stearns (4:6, 2:6).
Katerina Siniakova
Siniakova did not take part in the Billie Jean King Cup and has remained inactive since 20 March, when she was eliminated by Ons Jabeur in the round of 64 at the WTA 1000 Miami event (4:6, 6:7). That result marked her seventh loss to go with ten wins in the 2025 season. However, all those matches were played on hard courts. With the clay-court swing now underway, attention turns to her form on slower surfaces. Last year, she fared reasonably well on clay, recording nine wins and six defeats.
Katie Boulter vs Katerina Siniakova Prediction
By contrast, Katie Boulter managed just two wins from seven matches on clay in the 2024 season and typically avoids competing on the surface. As such, it is no surprise that the expectation is in favour of a Katerina Siniakova win. We’re backing her as well, though with a modest handicap.
