Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the UEFA Nations League match.
Since March, Kazakhstan have suffered four consecutive defeats, committing plenty of defensive errors in each game. Norway, on the other hand, boast top-tier players like Erling Haaland and Martin Ødegaard, who need just a few opportunities to make a difference.
Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan's problems began in the Euro 2024 qualifying playoffs, where they were soundly beaten away by Greece (0:5). Subsequent friendlies against Luxembourg, Armenia (both 1:2), and Azerbaijan (2:3) saw the team struggle to defend even against less powerful teams, squandering a two-goal lead in the last match. The coaching staff led by Stanislav Cherchesov might focus on stabilising the back line, but the team is unlikely to stop the Premier League stars.
Norway
Norway are entering their peak with a vibrant generation of players—it's crucial for them to qualify for upcoming major tournaments. In June friendlies against Kosovo (3:0) and Denmark (1:3), Erling Haaland scored all four goals, while attacker Antonio Nusa, a new signing for Leipzig, showed his potential and is expected to feature more in the starting lineup. The Scandinavians might also be defensively inconsistent, but their goal will be to create and score more than they concede.
Kazakhstan - Norway Prediction
Bookmakers have faith in Norway’s leaders—Haaland’s two consecutive hat-tricks in the Premier League are testament to his excellent form. Kazakhstan will struggle against such a formidable opponent.
