Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the 2024 World Snooker Championship match.
Kyren Wilson
This is going to be the second World Championship final for Kyren Wilson. The first time it happened was in 2020 when Wilson lost his match against Ronnie O’Sullivan (8:18). The audience was restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And Wilson had always liked to play with the full audience so this was a disadvantage for him. Currently, he claims he can deal with any situation. He beat David Gilbert in the semi-finals (17:11). Wilson has a chance to win the final as Jones is not an opponent of O'Sullivan's level. No matter how it ends, Wilson will be in the top 8 of the world rankings by the end of the tournament.
Jak Jones
This is a success for Jones to reach the final at his young age. He’s already beaten Zhang Anda, Si Jiahui, Judd Trump and Stuart Bingham. After reaching this stage, Jones has secured a place in the top 16 of the world rankings. Jak managed to focus on the tournament despite losing the games against Ashley Hugill and Dominic Dale before the World Championship. Jones is a dark horse.
Kyren Wilson – Jak Jones prediction
Kyren Wilson is a player who has more experience. His children will watch him playing. The audience will support him. I believe that Wilson will lead the game right from the start as it was in the previous stages. This tournament has seen quite a few century breaks and these opponents aren’t the ones to make them easily. Jones beat Bingham thanks to his short series. His opponent only wanted to end the game at the end. Wilson is a favourite to make century breaks although this game will lack this moment anyway.
