Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the La Liga match.
Las Palmas are riding high after an unexpected victory over Barcelona in the previous round (2:1). They will aim to build on this success and secure three crucial points against the struggling side. Real Valladolid are in crisis, languishing at the bottom of the table. They have been winless in five consecutive matches and recently suffered a heavy defeat to Atlético Madrid (0:5), which led to a change in their head coach.
Las Palmas
Las Palmas are gradually finding their form, having secured four wins in their last six La Liga outings, including the triumph over Barcelona (2:1). Overall, their performance at home has not been particularly strong, with just one win in seven games. However, they have managed to score in six of those seven matches, and if they lost, it was only by a single goal. In head-to-head meetings with Real Valladolid, the advantage lies with the hosts. At the Estadio Gran Canaria, they've never been beaten in seven consecutive games, four of which ended with the same scoreline — 1:1.
Real Valladolid
Real Valladolid sit bottom of the league table. They have secured just one win in their last 14 encounters. Their main problem is a porous defence, conceding an average of 2.13 goals per game, the worst record in La Liga. They are also the weakest in attack, averaging only 0.66 goals per match. While a managerial change might provide a slight emotional boost, it is unlikely that the situation will change drastically in such a short time.
Las Palmas vs Real Valladolid Prediction
Las Palmas are in excellent form, whereas Real Valladolid are in deep crisis. The hosts should capitalise on their visitors' weak defence and claim all three points. While it will be tough for Real Valladolid to outscore the hosts' attacking prowess, they still retain a chance of netting at least one goal.
