Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the WNBA match.
Las Vegas Aces
The Aces are steadily rediscovering their championship pedigree, winning nine of their last 10, including a dominant 106:87 victory over the Dallas Wings. A’ja Wilson, MVP of the last game, is in sensational shape with 34 points and eight rebounds. The Las Vegas Aces average 83.7 points per game (7th in the league), but sit only 9th in field goal percentage and 10th in three-point shooting. Defensively they are also mid-table, ranking 9th for points allowed. On their home floor, however, they are a different beast — 12-5 at Michelob Ultra Arena and playing with real confidence.
Atlanta Dream
The Dream top the East with a 22-12 record, having won eight of their last nine, including a comfortable 79:63 win over the Golden State Valkyries. Rhyne Howard continues to be their heartbeat, coming off a game of 14 points, six assists and five rebounds. The Atlanta Dream rank top five in scoring, sixth in shooting percentage and fifth in threes, but their biggest strength is defence — third-best in the WNBA — coupled with the league’s best rebounding numbers. They travel well, yet continue to struggle head-to-head with the Aces, losing by 15 in Las Vegas last month after being beaten both on the glass and in shooting efficiency.
Las Vegas Aces vs Atlanta Dream Prediction
The Las Vegas Aces have already shown they can nullify the Atlanta Aces’ strengths, winning the recent head-to-head. The deciding factor remains A’ja Wilson’s MVP-level dominance, which is powering the Aces through this streak. Given their current run and strong home record, the advantage lies with the hosts.
