Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Rome match.
The meeting between Laslo Djere and Tomas Etcheverry is among the more intriguing ties in the round of 1/64 at the Rome ATP Masters. Both players are closely matched in the current ATP rankings, occupying 64th and 51st positions respectively.
Laslo Djere
Laslo Djere has shown impressive form in the 2025 season. After a solid run of results at lower-tier events, he has made a noticeable impact at Masters-level tournaments as well. Most recently, he reached the last 16 in Barcelona, where he lost to third seed Carlos Alcaraz (2:6, 4:6). He followed that with a strong start in Madrid, defeating Fabio Fognini (6:2, 6:3), but had to withdraw from the tournament due to injury.
Tomas Etcheverry
In contrast, Tomas Etcheverry has struggled to find rhythm in recent weeks. Since the start of spring, he has played 11 matches but claimed victory just three times. All of those wins came in the third set and against players ranked outside the ATP top 70. Even at the more modest event in Houston, he was unable to overcome world No. 80 Aleksandar Kovacevic (3:6, 4:6).
Laslo Djere vs Tomas Etcheverry Prediction
Following his withdrawal from the Madrid Masters, expectations around Laslo Djere remain uncertain. That said, it is reasonable to suggest the break may have served him well. The Serbian has had nearly two weeks to recover and prepare, which should be sufficient. Against Tomas Etcheverry, he is expected to come out on top.
