Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Europa League match.
Lazio's impressive surge has seen the Roman side collect 12 points over four rounds, positioning them confidently ahead of their clash with Ludogorets. Lazio are the only team yet to drop points in the group stage, and a potential victory over the Bulgarian side could edge them closer to an early berth in the round of 16.
Lazio
Throughout four Europa League fixtures, Lazio have netted 11 goals (the third highest) and conceded only twice (second best defence alongside Athletic Bilbao). Against a formidable Porto (2:1) in the fourth round, Lazio dominated possession (1.49-0.57 in xG). Over the weekend, they dismantled Champions League participants Bologna (3:0), marking their seventh consecutive win across all competitions.
Ludogorets
Conversely, Ludogorets have struggled to find their rhythm in the final stages of the Europa League. The Bulgarians conceded two goals apiece to Slavia Prague, Anderlecht (both 0:2), and Athletic Bilbao (1:2), only managing a clean sheet against Viktoria Plzeň (0:0). On Sunday, they nearly lost the derby to CSKA Sofia (2:2) — without Anton Nedyalkov, their defence appeared overly unstable, and they will also miss forward Caio Vidal due to a suspension (red card) in their trip to Rome.
Lazio vs Ludogorets Prediction
The group leaders are evident favourites in this encounter. Lazio are expected to exploit Ludogorets' defence, which frankly falls short of Europa League standards.
