Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
It's clear that Leeds United are the outright favourites in this encounter. What more could you expect from the league leaders and arguably the prime contender for promotion? Theoretically, they may lose, but certainly not to Luton Town in their current form.
Leeds United
Leeds United have suffered defeat only twice in 16 rounds. The most recent loss was relatively recent, in the 14th round against Millwall (0:1). However, it's important to note that they were up against a defensive powerhouse; even a single goal was enough to secure victory for Millwall, plus the game was away. At their home ground, Leeds United have dropped just five points in eight rounds and boast a streak of five wins. They haven't lost since their game against Burnley in mid-September (0:1).
Luton Town
But who are Burnley and who are Luton Town, especially now? Both clubs were relegated from the Premier League last season, but the former stayed afloat, while the latter sharply declined. A position near the bottom of the table, or even in the relegation zone, is now the usual state for Luton Town. They have fewer wins this season than Leeds United have at home alone. Fortunately, they've started winning at their own stadium, with two consecutive victories. However, away from home, Luton Town might face a completely different scenario. Perhaps something akin to the recent thrashing they received from Middlesbrough (1:5).
Leeds United vs Luton Town Prediction
Of course, Leeds United are more rational than Middlesbrough, which is why they are ahead. They should claim victory, though perhaps not by such a large margin. Their last win over Luton Town reflected this (2:1). Hence, we'll go for a small handicap.
