Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Leeds United face a pivotal encounter at Elland Road after stumbling in two of their recent fixtures. Although they remain at the top of the table, another slip-up could see them relinquish their lead in the promotion race. Millwall, however, are no pushovers—having already beaten Leeds twice this season.
Leeds United
Leeds remain strong favourites, but their recent results raise concerns. In the first leg, Millwall achieved a win by employing their preferred defensive tactics (1:0). In the FA Cup fourth round, they capitalised on their opportunities, scoring twice without conceding while playing with a deep defensive line (35% possession). They converted both of their shots on target, while Leeds were unable to find the net despite eight shots on target.
Millwall
Millwall's defensive resilience remains a major asset. Bookmakers seem to underestimate the visitors, possibly due to the suspension of Liam Roberts. However, the absence of their backup goalkeeper is hardly a cause for concern, given that first-choice Lucas Jensen (11 clean sheets) is available. Furthermore, Millwall have taken points in each of their last three away matches, securing two wins and a draw.
Leeds United vs Millwall Prediction
Leeds United may still be the stronger side on paper, but a comfortable home victory looks unlikely. Millwall are well-drilled in frustrating stronger opponents, and their ability to stay compact and hit on the break makes them a tricky challenge for Leeds United.
