Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Leicester City and Coventry City will be pushing for promotion this season. The former especially will be counting on it, as they still retain a core from their English Premier League days. Either side could be second after Matchday 6.
Leicester City
Leicester City surely did not plan on dropping points at Oxford United, but the hosts very nearly won it before it finished (2:2). Leicester City did themselves no favours: Aaron Ramsey went in aggressively for a tackle and left his team down to ten men as early as the 24th minute. Goals and points have mainly come from the same names — Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Jordan Ayew and Ricardo Pereira. It was the latter two who found the net in that match.
Coventry City
Coventry City are dropping points for a third straight game, counting the EFL Cup as well. After 5:3 against Derby County and 7:1 against Queens Park Rangers, the goals have not dried up, but one or two have not been enough for victories. In the last round against Norwich City, the squad can feel relieved to have taken a point: they snatched an equaliser in the 96th minute after a challenge right on the edge of the penalty area. There was no reason to expect further gifts from the opposition. On the other hand, is one goal from 28 shots too little?
Leicester City vs Coventry City Prediction
As the previous rounds have shown, both squads have players who can create chances and score. The result will depend on how the goalkeepers perform. Neither has been convincing, so we are backing over 2.5 goals.
