Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Surprisingly, Championship newcomers Wrexham have scored more goals (12) than recently relegated Leicester City FC (9). Two contrasting trajectories now meet after years apart.
Leicester City
There have been no recent head-to-heads between Leicester City and Wrexham. The visitors were in non-league, while the hosts were operating at least at Championship level. The team are targeting an immediate return to the English Premier League, yet at this stage they are one of many in a tightly packed field. In the home standings they do not stand out either: they are seventh. Leicester City unbeaten, but Coventry City held them to a goalless draw (0:0), due in large part to the goalkeeper, who produced a couple of excellent saves.
Wrexham
Wrexham have risen to the second tier. As recently as 2022/23 they were in the fifth tier. In this Championship campaign they have already claimed two away wins against Championship regulars Millwall (2:0) and Norwich City (3:2). There was also an EFL Cup second-round tie in which the team defeated Preston North End (3:2).
Leicester City vs Wrexham Prediction
Results suggest it is perfectly possible to score against Wrexham, yet they can certainly put a few past opponents as well. We think both teams will find the net here, even though Leicester City do not allow every opponent a route to goal.
