Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Women's EuroBasket match.
Both Lithuania and the Czech Republic were eliminated at the quarter-final stage, but their journey in the Women's EuroBasket continues in the 5th–8th place classification round. While progression is no longer at stake, this fixture is a chance to reward the travelling fans in Greece with a competitive display.
Lithuania (women)
The squad began the tournament with back-to-back wins but struggled significantly once they encountered stronger opponents. They offered little resistance in a 51:65 loss to Italy, followed by a heavy 61:83 defeat to France. Offensively, Lithuania have lacked consistency throughout the tournament, with no player managing to score in double digits in any of their EuroBasket matches.
Czech Republic (women)
The team came close to upsetting a top-tier Spanish side in the quarter-finals, eventually falling 81:88. Still, their offensive execution stood out, as they registered 23 assists. Their ability to capitalise on fast breaks—evidenced by eight steals— could be a key factor against Lithuania, who committed 25 turnovers in their loss to France.
Lithuania (women) vs Czech Republic (women) Prediction
The Czech Republic appear to be the more balanced and cohesive unit. They are also well-equipped to take advantage of their opponent's vulnerabilities. With several experienced players in the lineup, they should be able to maintain focus and deliver a solid performance, even in a match of lower competitive value. Backing the nominal away side looks the more convincing option.
