Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
The headline act of Matchweek 3, and possibly of the entire first phase of the 2025/26 English Premier League, arrives this Sunday before the first international break. The match may feature Eberechi Eze, only just signed by Arsenal from Crystal Palace.
Liverpool
This season the new Arsenal signing has already faced Liverpool in the FA Community Shield. On that occasion his former team prevailed in a penalty shoot-out (3:2). That remains Liverpool’s only non-win of the new campaign, although there could have been a second. The squad squandered a 2:0 lead against Newcastle United despite a man advantage. Fortunately, 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha rescued the result in stoppage time, just three minutes after making his English Premier League debut.
Arsenal
Arsenal have unveiled fresh starlets as well. In the 5:0 demolition of Leeds United, 15-year-old Max Dowman got his first minutes in the English Premier League. The right winger tried several bold efforts, although the goalkeeper was not especially troubled. Arsenal delivered a reality check to the newcomers despite fresh issues with their forwards. By this match Kai Havertz had suffered an injury, and at Emirates Stadium Bukayo Saka picked up a knock. However, Viktor Gyökeres scored his first two goals for Arsenal, and their corner kicks worked perfectly.
Liverpool vs Arsenal Prediction
Even with those absences, Arsenal’s attacking potential remains high, while Liverpool are close to full strength. Both meetings last season ended 2:2. On Sunday we expect at least three goals.
