Several Major League Soccer teams have taken part in the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup hosted in the United States. Los Angeles FC were among the participants, but the squad failed to leave a notable mark on the competition.
Los Angeles FC
Despite currently occupying seventh place in the Western Conference, Los Angeles FC have four games in hand, so their position is far from precarious. The team are already within the play-off zone and, once they catch up on fixtures, could leapfrog San Jose Earthquakes, who are just two points ahead. The squad had an opportunity to climb higher on matchday 21 but suffered a 0:1 defeat against former Western Conference leaders Vancouver Whitecaps.
Colorado Rapids
Colorado Rapids are level on 26 points with Los Angeles FC, but have played the full 21 matches. They are just clinging on to a wild-card spot. Over their last six outings, Colorado Rapids have recorded only one win — a 2:0 home result against Los Angeles Galaxy. The remaining fixtures yielded four losses, despite the fact that four of those six were played in Denver.

Los Angeles FC have won each of their last five home meetings with Colorado Rapids, all without conceding. Given the team have also kept clean sheets in two of their last four matches at home, another win to nil looks like a strong possibility.
