Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Nations League match.
Among the national sides of diminutive countries, there are always some that stand out and others that frequently hand over points. Both these teams can be considered among the stronger ones. They even manage to take points off mid-level opponents occasionally.
Malta
In the Nations League, so far, Malta have the upper hand in their head-to-head encounters, having won against Andorra (1:0) and even Moldova (1:0), who seem to be in a different weight class. Malta's victory over the Moldovans came under the leadership of Davide Mazzotta, who took charge in September. There is progress, but they will not directly advance to League C because they trail Moldova in head-to-head results, having lost the first game (0:2). A win against Andorra will not help them.
Andorra
Andorra have lost not only to Malta but also twice to Moldova: first away (0:2), then at home (0:1). Their home match could have ended in a draw, but their opponents' consistent advantage (16 shots compared to 7) made the difference in the 92nd minute. Andorra have now gone nine matches without scoring in official competitions while conceding in eight.
Malta vs Andorra Prediction
It seems likely that Andorra will not score again this time. But can Malta? In their last three matches and in two head-to-head encounters, they have scored. We already mentioned the first leg game, and four years ago in the Nations League, Malta won at home (3:1). So the hosts should win again, but there will be no more than two goals.
