Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
Man City vs Liverpool preview
The Citizens are currently first, one point ahead of their opponents. And the first of them is Liverpool. The Reds are second having the same number of points as Arsenal. This game can make Liverpool the leader of the Premier League. If Manchester City wins we can expect that, as it already was before, struggling for the title will be gradually fading away.
The Citizens haven’t been very confident this season. They lost two consecutive matches in September-October. Their last match against Chelsea ended in a 4:4 draw. However, the same is true for Liverpool. Their draw in a game against Luton Town was very surprising.
In this game, Liverpool will miss MacAllister who is disqualified. But offensive lines of both teams are ready, with Erling Haaland and Darwin Núñez being the most dangerous players.
Man City — Liverpool head-to-head
The last two games between these opponents saw Manchester City beating Liverpool both in the Premier League (4:1) and the League Cup (3:2). However, Liverpool were different last season. Now, the side has managed to overcome the crisis. So probably, the results of other 2022 matches matter more. Liverpool beat their rivals (1:0) in the Premier League and in the Community Shield (3:1).
Man City v Liverpool odds
Bookmakers don’t believe that Liverpool will be able to be a tough opponent for the Citizens. You can bet on Manchester City to win at about 7/10. While a draw and Liverpool to win are offered at about 7/2.
Man City vs Liverpool betting tips
Both teams have scored in 9 out of the last 11 head-to-head Premier League games in Manchester.
The Citizens have scored at least twice in 10 out of the last 13 head-to-head Premier League matches at the Ettihad stadium.
Man City vs Liverpool prediction
The international break will affect this game, for sure. I don’t believe that the sides will be able to play being focused on defence. Their attacking lines are perfect and they need to use it as much as possible. I'm pretty sure that we’ll see both teams scoring goals. Erling Haaland and Darwin Núñez will do their best to lead their teams to win. I’m not sure that they will succeed in this as a draw seems to be quite a possible result. But it’s not going to be a goalless match.
