Manchester City are not trending the right way. After five matchweeks they sit only ninth in the English Premier League. A win over Burnley could at least nudge the team towards the European places.
Manchester City
It has not been the toughest run of fixtures, yet in two of their three key games Manchester City dropped points. Fast-starting Tottenham Hotspur beat them at the Etihad (2:0); at the same venue the team beat Manchester United (3:0); and Arsenal denied them a win last time out with a 1:1 draw. On top of that, Manchester City lost away to Brighton & Hove Albion (1:2). The positive before facing Burnley is that they recorded a 4:0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, who are battling relegation.
Burnley
However, Burnley appear more solid than Wolverhampton Wanderers. Yes, they have only 4 points and sit 16th, but Liverpool secured victory only in the 95th minute, when the team were already down to ten men. In the English Premier League they have conceded more than one goal only against Tottenham Hotspur (0:3) and Manchester United (2:3). In the EFL Cup in midweek, Burnley lost to Cardiff City (1:2), but only narrowly and seemingly by design. Moreover, Manchester City are playing in the same competition a day later.
Manchester City vs Burnley Prediction
We do not anticipate a heavy defeat for the visitors, although a Manchester City win looks likely. We will take the smaller handicap on Burnley.
