Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
Manchester United
Last season was one of Manchester United’s worst in the modern era, finishing 15th with only 44 goals scored. The club has spent over €220 million this summer to revamp the attack, bringing in Benjamin Šeško, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha. Departures included veterans Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelöf and Jonny Evans, while Marcus Rashford has gone out on loan. Pre-season form was mixed — three wins, three draws and one defeat — and their recent home record against Arsenal is poor, with just two wins in their last seven Old Trafford meetings.
Arsenal
Arsenal have finished runners-up in the Premier League three years in a row. They have made targeted but high-quality signings, including Viktor Gyökeres — Europe’s top striker last season, who scored on debut — as well as Martín Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera and Kepa Arrizabalaga. Zubimendi replaces the departed Thomas Partey, while key attackers Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz remain in place. Pre-season was a mixed bag with three wins and two defeats, but only twice did they score fewer than two goals.
Manchester United vs Arsenal Prediction
Arsenal’s cohesive structure and powerful attacking options, led by Viktor Gyökeres, give them the edge, particularly against a Manchester United side still bedding in their new-look attack. The hosts can create chances, but inconsistency in finishing could prove costly. The visitors should avoid defeat while getting on the scoresheet at least twice.
