Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
Few would have predicted before the season that Manchester United would find themselves just three places ahead of Ipswich Town in the standings. This match is an opportunity for Manchester United to move a few positions clear of the relegation-threatened side.
Manchester United
Currently sitting in 15th place, Manchester United’s situation is dire. If Erik ten Hag had remained in charge, things might have been better, but now they have to adapt to the demands of Ruben Amorim. Teams like Crystal Palace and Everton, who had been trailing Manchester United for a long time, are now ahead of them. In fact, they played against Everton in the previous round, barely salvaging a point in the second half after being 0:2 down at the break. Bruno Fernandes’ exceptional free-kick helped, but Manchester United have now gone three matches without a win in the Premier League.
Ipswich Town
Ipswich Town have been even worse, with seven matches without a victory and only two draws. In the last round, they were hammered 4:0 by another underperforming team, Tottenham Hotspur. The only time they managed to hold their own against a top-half opponent was in the match against Aston Villa, when one of their most experienced players, Axel Tuanzebe, was sent off. Tuanzebe, a former Manchester United youth product, will return from suspension for this match, bringing extra motivation.
Manchester United vs Ipswich Town Prediction
It’s hard to predict how Manchester United will perform at the moment, but one thing is clear: even when they have won in recent months, it’s rarely been by more than a single goal. The +1.5 handicap on their opponents has been successful 13 out of 15 times. This match is likely to follow that trend.
