Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Community Shield match
The English football season will start with the Manchester derby. Man City is the clear favourite in the match against Man United, even though they lost to them in the FA Cup final back in June.
Manchester United
Manchester United had a mixed pre-season, having both wins and losses. The worst was their match with Arsenal (1:2), when before half-time Rasmus Højlund and Leny Yoro got injured and were substituted. The coaching staff are still trying to sign two defenders from Bayern, Matthijs De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui. However the team will probably start the game with Victor Lindelöf and Harry Maguire, which isn't a great sign.
Manchester City
Manchester City had three losses in their pre-season, which isn’t unusual. The coach gave the players rest, using only those who didn’t play for their national team in June and July. However, they recently beat Chelsea 4-2 with Erling Haaland scoring three goals and a total of five goals in four friendly matches.
Man United - Man City Prediction
United have conceded eight goals in their five friendlies and only managed to keep one draw. With Haaland in great form, City will definitely score at least two goals in the first derby of the season.
