Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Roland Garros match.
Stefanos Tsitsipas remains one of the main outsiders with genuine title ambitions at Roland Garros. On his favoured clay surface, he cruised through his opening match against Martin Etcheverry and now prepares to take on Matteo Gigante, who is unlikely to offer serious resistance.
Matteo Gigante
Matteo Gigante comes into the match on a four-match winning streak, having dropped just one set along the way. However, the calibre of his opponents raises some questions. The most notable among them was Elmer Moller, currently sitting at No. 112 in the ATP rankings. In the first round of Roland Garros, the Italian faced Benjamin Hassan, ranked 220th in the world. In contrast, Stefanos Tsitsipas competes at an entirely different level.
Stefanos Tsitsipas
In the first round at Roland Garros, Stefanos Tsitsipas eased past Martin Etcheverry in straight sets – 7:5, 6:3, 6:4 – showcasing a dominant serve with 12 aces and just three double faults. Prior to that, he defeated Alexandre Muller in Rome (6:2, 7:6). Both players are significantly stronger than Matteo Gigante.
Matteo Gigante vs Stefanos Tsitsipas Prediction
There is a clear disparity in class between these two. Stefanos Tsitsipas not only has far more top-level experience but also competes consistently on the main tour, which cannot be said for Matteo Gigante. It is difficult to foresee any real tension or surprises in this encounter. He is expected to advance comfortably to the next round.
