Adam Williams presents his prediction for the NBA match.
The Memphis Grizzlies continue their freefall and face the Golden State Warriors on the second night of a back-to-back. The Warriors trail the Grizzlies by just one win and a victory here would strengthen their grip on a top-six seed in the Western Conference.
Memphis Grizzlies
There’s something strange going on with the Grizzlies. Once part of the Western elite, they have collapsed and sacked their head coach with just nine games left in the regular season. Interim boss Tuomas Iisalo — whose surname still trips up half the US media — hasn’t turned the tide. Under his guidance, the Grizzlies fell to the Los Angeles Lakers (127:134) and the Boston Celtics (103:117). The Grizzlies hold the worst record (6-16) in games against the West’s top-eight teams and average just 110.8 points per 100 possessions in those contests.
Golden State Warriors
The Warriors are in the midst of a six-game road swing. Things were rocky at first, but the return of Steph Curry has restored order — the team handled the New Orleans Pelicans (111:95) and thrashed the San Antonio Spurs (148:106). Firstly, the Warriors have committed fewer turnovers than their opponent in 20 of their last 25 games. Secondly, they rank in the top 10 in both offensive and defensive rebounding percentage. In fact, the Warriors have achieved a combined +43 advantage in second-chance points alone over their last three games.
Memphis Grizzlies vs Golden State Warriors Prediction
The Memphis Grizzlies have failed to cover the spread in eight of their last ten games. This will be their first meeting of the season with the Golden State Warriors’ upgraded lineup, now featuring Jimmy Butler. Given their recent form, coaching instability, and the back-to-back disadvantage, the hosts are up against it. Back the visitors to get it done.
