Adam Williams presents his prediction for the NBA match.
The Memphis Grizzlies have hit top form and have climbed to second place in the Western Conference. Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs find themselves in a situation where even dreaming of a play-in spot feels optimistic. They have lost nine of their last twelve games, and their struggling defence is unlikely to withstand the league’s best offence.
Memphis Grizzlies
The Grizzlies are on a dominant run, winning eight of their last nine games. They boast the most potent offence in the NBA, averaging 123.2 points per game. Even without Ja Morant (20.3 points), they have proven they can win convincingly. Luke Kennard has stepped up, scoring 22 points against the Houston Rockets, while Desmond Bane (22 and 24 points in his last two outings) and Jaren Jackson Jr., who has scored over 19 points in 15 of his last 16 games, continue to shine.
San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs remain one of the weakest teams in the Western Conference, particularly on the defensive end. They allow 113.7 points per game (18th in the league), but over their last eight outings, that figure has ballooned to over 124 points per game. In two previous meetings with the Memphis Grizzlies, they conceded 140 and 129 points, respectively. Even in their last match against the Miami Heat, they put up a fight but still fell short (103:105). Their biggest issue is their reliance on Victor Wembanyama (24.6 points), who is highly doubtful for this matchup.
Memphis Grizzlies vs San Antonio Spurs Prediction
The Memphis Grizzlies have already convincingly beaten the San Antonio Spurs twice this season and now have an excellent chance to continue that trend. Given their form, offensive firepower, the Spurs’ defensive struggles, and the likely absence of Victor Wembanyama, a win for the Memphis Grizzlies with a moderate handicap looks like the best bet.
