Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the NBA Summer League match.
Both sides are set for their third outing at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. The Miami Heat have endured back-to-back defeats, losing to the Atlanta Hawks (98:105) and the Cleveland Cavaliers (72:92). In contrast, the Boston Celtics have registered two commanding victories, each by double-digit margins of 13 and 14 points.
Miami Heat
The Miami Heat continue to make frequent changes to their lineup. Despite encouraging individual displays from Pelle Larsson, Kel'el Ware and Bryson Warren – each averaging over 10 points per game – the squad still lacks a coherent playing style. In their two previous games, they conceded 92 and 105 points respectively, while also struggling on the boards: 34 to 48 against the Cleveland Cavaliers, and 32 to 48 against the Atlanta Hawks.
Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics field a more balanced and experienced squad. Jordan Walsh, Charles Bassey, Kenneth Lofton and Baylor Scheierman all bring NBA-level pedigree and are each averaging over 9.5 points per game. Wins against the Memphis Grizzlies (92:78) and the New York Knicks (94:81) were underpinned by efficient play on both ends of the floor. The Boston Celtics use spacing intelligently, move the ball effectively and finish well in the paint. Charles Bassey was a standout performer in the most recent game against the New York Knicks, registering 22 points and 13 rebounds.
Miami Heat vs Boston Celtics Prediction
The key strength of the Boston Celtics lies in their cohesion and the quality of their personnel, which clearly surpasses the inexperienced and disorganised Miami Heat lineup. The Boston Celtics have not allowed more than 81 points in either of their games and have consistently controlled the paint – an area where the Miami Heat continue to struggle. A convincing win is on the cards for the Boston Celtics.
