Adam Williams presents his prediction for the NBA match.
The Miami Heat’s chances of finishing in the top six are now purely theoretical, but that doesn’t take away from their fight to secure a play-in spot. They need to hold onto seventh place in the Eastern Conference, and a matchup against a bottom-tier team, the Washington Wizards, is the perfect opportunity to strengthen their position.
Miami Heat
The Heat continue their home stand, already securing wins against strong opponents like the Indiana Pacers (125:120) and Atlanta Hawks (131:109), while also pushing the New York Knicks to overtime in a narrow defeat (112:116 OT). Tyler Herro has been outstanding since the All-Star break, averaging 25.6 points per game. In the clash against the Knicks, Bam Adebayo also stepped up, delivering 30 points and 7 rebounds.
Washington Wizards
Since the All-Star break, the Wizards have won just two of their five games, and both victories came against the fellow Eastern Conference underdogs, the Brooklyn Nets (107:99) and Charlotte (113:100). However, their recent loss to the Portland Trail Blazers (129:113) exposed the true state of their defence. The Trail Blazers had no trouble scoring 129 points, once again proving that the Wizards’ defence—statistically the worst in the league—routinely allows over 120 points per game.
Miami Heat vs Washington Wizards Prediction
The Miami Heat have been excellent in recent home games, and this matchup against the Washington Wizards is a prime opportunity to bounce back from the Knicks defeat. Given the Wizards’ dreadful defence, the Heat should have no problem putting up a strong offensive display.
