Adam Williams presents his prediction for the English Open qualifiers match.
Michael Holt
Michael Holt has returned to the tour after two years as an amateur. Holt has won a few events on the Q Tour but has only three wins this season: over Reanne Evans 4:0, Huang Jiahao 3:1 and Ahmad Abul 4:0, against a woman, an amateur from Kuwait, and in the short-format Championship League. We expected more from Holt, but Michael is still finding his game.
Gong Chenzhi
Gong Chenzhi also turned professional this season for the first time. Gong is only 17 years old, he qualified through the Chinese Snooker Federation tournaments. At the tournament in Xi'an, Gong beat Anthony Hamilton 5:4, Tom Ford 5:1 and Si Jiahui 5:3. At the Saudi Arabian Masters, Gong reached the fourth round, losing to Neil Robertson 5:1. Chenzhi is showing a good level of play for his age and has already earned many ranking points.
Michael Holt — Gong Chenzhi Prediction
In a head-to-head match, Michael Holt has the advantage of many years of experience on tour, Holt started playing on tour 10 years before Gong Chenzhi was born. However, Gong has had a better start to the season and is better at break building. Young players always try to play actively and aggressively, having not yet suffered painful snooker scars yet. We think Gong will win.
