Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Despite the difference in the standings, only two points separate the sides, so a tight, competitive game with goals is likely.
Millwall
The hosts sit 10th on 11 points. In recent fixtures the squad have shown character: across the last four matches, they came from behind three times and picked up points. They recently beat Watford and shared the spoils with Swansea City. The main issue is the attack: only six goals scored in seven matches, which is among the poorer statistics in the league. The defence, however, is functioning well: eight conceded, the bulk of which came in the match against Middlesbrough. At home, Millwall show persistence: in August the team have defeated Coventry City (2:1), ending a five‑match winless run in head-to-head meetings.
Coventry City
Coventry City sit second near the top of the standings. They are unbeaten in seven league matches, and a 3:0 rout of Birmingham City last time out restored confidence after a run of draws. They own the Championship’s best attack with 18 scored, 11 of those at home. Away from home, results are more modest: five points from three trips with four goals scored. The squad utilise pace on the flanks and take their chances, yet they tend to concede in almost every match.
Millwall vs Coventry City Prediction
Both teams know how to scrap. Millwall have tightened up and rarely finish without a goal. Coventry City possess one of the division’s most potent attacks, and their current form points to attacking intent. Head-to-head meetings have offered goals — at least two in each of the last three.
