Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Both clubs endured disastrous midweek results. Millwall were thrashed by bottom-of-the-table Plymouth, while West Bromwich Albion lost to a direct playoff rival.
Millwall
Millwall, a side struggling to score two goals in a match, somehow conceded five against last-placed Plymouth Argyle. They were broken within the first 10 minutes, shipping two early goals. This shocking defeat came just days after an impressive 2:0 FA Cup win over Leeds United and a 2:1 league victory over Queens Park Rangers. Plymouth had just stunned Liverpool (1:0) in the FA Cup, and their momentum was sky-high. Regardless, Millwall’s defence looked extremely fragile.
West Bromwich Albion
West Bromwich Albion had a golden opportunity to solidify their playoff spot but lost at home to Blackburn Rovers (0:2), who were right behind them in the standings. West Bromwich Albion dominated possession (65%) but failed to make it count, allowing two decisive moments in the second half. On the road, both teams have scored in seven of West Brom’s last eight matches, so goals are likely.
Millwall vs West Bromwich Albion Prediction
Millwall occasionally play goalless stalemates, but The Den has seen seven goals across the last two games. Given Millwall’s defensive collapse and West Bromwich Albion’s open style away from home, we’re backing both teams to score.
