Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the MLB regular season match.
In the opening clash between these two heavyweights, the Milwaukee Brewers triumphed over the Philadelphia Phillies (6:2). This was only the third time this month that the Phillies allowed more than five runs. Despite this setback, the visitors are once again tagged as favourites for the second game.
Milwaukee Brewers
For the first time this season, the Brewers not only defeated the Phillies, but did so with a significant margin. Several factors aligned in favour of the team. Firstly, veteran and starting pitcher Colin Rea took on the role of a reliever for the evening and secured the save. Secondly, the Phillies failed to capitalise on multiple opportunities, managing just one hit out of nine with runners in scoring positions.
Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies will turn to pitcher Zack Wheeler (15-6, 2.6 ERA) to set things right. Wheeler has been formidable recently, striking out 44 batters over 39 innings in six starts in August, allowing just 1.62 runs per game. In September, he secured two wins, and in his previous encounter against the Milwaukee Brewers (3:1), he delivered a stellar seven-inning performance.
Milwaukee Brewers vs Philadelphia Phillies Prediction
The Philadelphia Phillies' key hitters, Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper, are in good form, each notching two hits on Tuesday night. The issue was with their starting pitcher, who is noticeably superior to the opponents this time. Additionally, no team in the league rebounds from losses better than the Phillies, winning 62.7% of their follow-up games.
