Adam Williams presents his prediction for the NBA match.
This matchup will close out the season series between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Phoenix Suns. So far, the Timberwolves lead 3-0, and they clearly intend to sweep their opponent. With both sides still jostling for position in the play-in race, this one carries real weight.
Minnesota Timberwolves
The Timberwolves have hit a bit of turbulence lately, picking up just two wins in their last five. That said, they have benefitted from a four-day break — a timely pause that allowed key players to recharge. Most notably, scorers Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle were running on fumes in their previous outing. They’ve been crucial in this season’s wins over the Phoenix Suns, averaging 33.7 and 27.7 points respectively in the three meetings.
Phoenix Suns
Right when it seemed like the Suns were improving, the Boston Celtics came to their city and caused them to lose badly. The Suns were dismantled in a 102-132 blowout, looking completely out of sorts against a title contender. The Celtics shot 50.6% from the field and a staggering 62.2% in the paint — and that’s a team averaging just 115.4 points over their last ten. In contrast, the Timberwolves have averaged 121.5 in that same span. Suffice it to say, the Suns’ defence is in for another long night.
Minnesota Timberwolves vs Phoenix Suns Prediction
The Minnesota Timberwolves have scored at least 116 points in all three head-to-head clashes this season. Given the Phoenix Suns’ defensive woes, there’s little reason to expect a different story here. The Timberwolves should once again find plenty of scoring opportunities and cruise past their team total.
