Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Segunda División match.
With both teams having secured their fates for the season, the final matchday offers little more than a chance to end on a high. Málaga will be satisfied with having secured safety after a promotion campaign, while Burgos have long since dropped out of playoff contention and appear to be winding down.
Málaga
Survival secured with matches to spare, Málaga can reflect positively on their return to the Segunda. In a tightly packed mid-table, they still have a shot at overtaking Burgos (12th) if results go their way. Recent form has been a mixed bag — three wins and two losses in their last five — but notably, they’ve either won or lost, with no draws. Four of those games ended with one team failing to score, and Málaga kept their clean sheets at home.
Burgos
Burgos have been drifting since missing out on the playoff race, with just three points from their last five games. Those came from a single win — a 3:2 result at home against Córdoba. However, their attacking output dries up away from El Plantío. Across their last ten fixtures, all three clean sheets came on the road — but they also struggle to find the net themselves when travelling.
Málaga vs Burgos Prediction
With Burgos lacking bite away from home and Málaga showing a solid home defence, the edge is with the hosts. While a clean sheet win is a decent risk-reward option, the safer call is backing Málaga to take all three points in front of their fans to close out the season on a high.
