Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Segunda División match.
Undefeated at the start of the season, Málaga host Elche, who are still finding their rhythm. Will we see an easy victory for the favourites, or will it be a tightly contested and unpredictable game?
Málaga
Under the guidance of Sergio Pellicer, the hosts have started the season quite well. Currently, only three teams in the league can boast an undefeated record. However, unlike the others, they have not won many matches—just two out of six. They have been decent in attack, scoring eight goals, but have also conceded six, which means they score slightly more than one goal per game and concede exactly one. Notably, in four out of their six matches, the total went over 1.5.
Elche
Elche have been inconsistent. The team’s performance has been rather unstable: for example, right after a convincing 3:1 win over Córdoba, they suffered a heavy 3:0 defeat to Real Zaragoza. Elche tend to dominate possession, with an average possession percentage of 64%, but their inconsistent play in both attack and defence prevents them from achieving stable results.
Málaga vs Elche Prediction
Looking at the history of head-to-head matches between these teams, we find that at least two goals have been scored in each of the last six encounters. Although they haven’t faced each other since 2020, considering their current form and the scoring trends in their matches, it’s likely that the trend will continue and we will see several goals scored.
