Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Ligue 1 match.
This season has started in an unusual manner for AS Monaco. By the end of September, the team has not suffered a single defeat and looks extremely stable – bookmakers have little doubt in their victory over Montpellier Hérault SC.
AS Monaco
Last week, AS Monaco defeated FC Barcelona (2:1) and Le Havre AC (3:1), scoring a total of eight goals in three matches after the international break. In the league, the team has generated 11.52 xG – second only to Paris Saint-Germain (15.90). Notably, Monaco are also excellent defensively, having conceded just two goals in Ligue 1 (the best defence alongside RC Lens).
Montpellier Hérault SC
Montpellier HRS, however, have a completely different situation regarding their defensive organisation. In five matches, they have conceded 15 goals (the worst record along with Saint-Étienne). Even in their victory over AJ Auxerre (3:2), they allowed 1.36 xGA, and were outshot on target (5-6). Clearly, Montpellier's performance is affected by personnel issues – out of seven injured players, the absence of Christopher Jullien and Joris Chotard, who used to provide reliability in defence, is felt the most.
AS Monaco vs Montpellier Hérault SC Prediction
Under Adolf Hütter, AS Monaco have convincingly beaten Montpellier HSC twice without any doubts (both 2:0). Powerful AS Monaco are set to leave the mid-table Ligue 1 side without points once again.
