Germany are regarded as one of the leading contenders for the upcoming EuroBasket, so their opening group game will attract particular attention. The match-up looks favourable, as Montenegro are not among the elite.
Montenegro
Montenegro are not among the elite, but they do have leading figures. Chief among them is centre Nikola Vučević of the Chicago Bulls, who recently scored 19 points in a friendly against France. However, Montenegro have a major issue in defence. In their most recent game, Turkey scored 96 points. The opposition here is considerably stronger.
Germany
Germany come into the tournament in excellent shape. In their previous two games they saw off Spain (106:105 OT and 95:78). Given their roster, those results should not surprise. Dennis Schröder and Franz Wagner stand out. In the latest meeting with Spain, they led the team to victory, combining for 51 points.
Montenegro vs Germany Prediction
Germany look clear favourites, and we doubt Montenegro will provide sustained resistance. Germany are in strong offensive form, so the nominal hosts’ relatively weak defence should suit them.
