Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the World Water Polo Championship match.
Montenegro earned a silver medal at the World Championships in 2013, but recent showings have lacked consistency. Their upcoming opponents, Greece, have reached the podium in each of the last two editions of the tournament.
Montenegro
Montenegro are currently ranked eighth in the world. Their 2025 campaign has been mixed, with five wins and four losses, including a 10:17 defeat to Greece. During the recent FINA World Cup, they recorded victories over Germany (ranked 17th), the Netherlands (15th), France (9th), and the United States (6th). However, they struggled against higher-ranked opposition, losing to Spain (2nd), Greece (4th), and Croatia (1st), and were eliminated at the quarter-finals stage.
Greece
Greece are ranked fourth in the world and have put together a strong 2025 campaign, winning six of their eight matches. Their opponents in that run included Hungary (3rd), Spain, and Serbia (5th). They finished fifth at last year’s World Championships, having secured silver in 2023 and bronze in 2022. Historically, they have dominated Montenegro, winning six consecutive head-to-head matches—three of those by margins of at least five goals.
Montenegro vs Greece Prediction
Greece have consistently had the upper hand over Montenegro both in tournament settings and direct matchups. That pattern is expected to continue, with Greece likely to demonstrate their superiority once more.
