Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Ligue 1 match.
Marseille are currently in third place in the league, but their recent midweek performance was hardly deserving of that standing. They looked more like a team struggling at the bottom. Facing Nantes will test whether they have learned from their mistakes.
Nantes
The hosts of this upcoming matchup also suffered a midweek defeat, but their defensive display was far superior to their upcoming opponents. Nantes held their ground against Strasbourg as long as they could, but eventually conceded a second goal in the 57th minute. That 3:1 defeat marked their sixth consecutive match without a win. Moreover, during these matches, the both teams to score bet only failed once. It's not just an away game issue either. After their home victory over newly-promoted Auxerre (2:0), they've been unable to secure a win in three subsequent home matches.
Marseille
Marseille, on the other hand, faltered badly in the Le Classique derby this week. The embarrassment caused by their players at the Velodrome will linger in the south of France for some time. Their absurd errors led to a harsh 0:3 loss. They were already down by halftime. Adding to their woes was Amine Harit's straight red card in the 20th minute. In the second half, the score could have been 0:5, but PSG missed their chances.
Nantes vs Marseille Prediction
With such a poor defence, Marseille are bound to concede again. However, they have no trouble scoring against teams other than PSG: Toulouse and Olympique lyonnais each conceded three at home, while Stade Brestois and Montpellier let in five. We expect goals from both sides due to defensive lapses.
