Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the WTA Bad Homburg match.
Naomi Osaka begins her Bad Homburg campaign after receiving a wild card from the organisers. This tournament marks her final chance to build momentum ahead of Wimbledon. Olga Danilovic made it into the main draw through qualifying but has consistently struggled on grass throughout her career.
Naomi Osaka
Currently ranked WTA No. 56, Naomi Osaka suffered a loss in Berlin to eventual semi-finalist Liudmila Samsonova, but showed determination by taking the match to three sets. Since early March, the Japanese player has taken at least one set in 16 consecutive matches. Known for her powerful serve, she averages seven aces per match while keeping double faults under three. This season, she has played in nine tournaments and progressed to at least the round of 16 in four of them.
Olga Danilovic
Ranked WTA No. 39, Olga Danilovic remains more comfortable on clay than on grass, losing five of her last nine matches on this surface. In qualifying, she overcame Nastasja Schunk (WTA No. 283) and Yuliia Starodubtseva (WTA No. 67). Both matches lasted at least 21 games, and the Serbian player committed four double faults in each.
Naomi Osaka vs Olga Danilovic Prediction
Naomi Osaka is the stronger player on grass and is well-positioned to secure a confident win over Olga Danilovic, who only just came through qualifying. Although the Serbian won both of her matches in straight sets, they were tightly contested, and the standard of competition in the main draw is significantly tougher.
