Adam Williams presents his prediction for the Players Championship match.
Neil Robertson and Kyren Wilson will play in the first Players Championship semi-final.
Neil Robertson
Neil Robertson beat Mark Selby (6-3) in the quarter-finals, making four half-centuries. Neil built a three-frame lead and calmly brought the match to victory. This is the eighth consecutive victory for Neil Robertson, who played brilliantly at the World Grand Prix and continues his winning streak. Such good play by the Australian could hinder his preparation for the World Championship. If Neil peaks too early, he will have a tough time at the Crucible, where he has often been eliminated in the second round in the last few years, and last year he lost in qualifying and did not make it to the main draw.
Kyren Wilson
Kyren Wilson beat Mark Williams (6-3) in the quarter-finals, and it was not the best quality match from either player. Mark Williams has problems with his eyes, which he himself admitted, but Kyren unexpectedly played this match without big breaks, although in the previous game with Mark Allen Kyren played very well with several half-centuries. But as often happens in snooker, after a successful match, a player can play the next game much worse, and vice versa. We remain hopeful that today Kyren will be much better at using open positions and controlling the cue ball at his usual level.
Neil Robertson vs Kyren Wilson Prediction
The chances of both players winning are estimated equally, since both snooker players are in good shape and are aiming not only to win the Players Championship, but also the next Tour Championship tournament. The last time Kyren and Neil played each other was a year ago at the German Masters, and then Wilson won (6-4). We think we will see a close and tense match, which are not so common in this tournament. We don’t expect many half-centuries; the conditions may have an effect, but we’re sure both Wilson and Robertson will be hanging on for every frame. Both players have a tough character, so we’ll offer a bet on the total frames over 9.5.
