Adam Williams presents his prediction for the NBA match.
The Houston Rockets wrap up their three-game road trip in Louisiana against the New Orleans Pelicans. The Pelicans have been dominant at home, remaining unbeaten there since 13 February.
New Orleans Pelicans
The key to the Pelicans' recent success is simple: their stars are back on the court. The biggest difference between their current winning stretch and their previous 10-game slump is their defensive improvement. The Pelicans have reduced their defensive rating to 112.6 points per 100 possessions, compared to 125.3 during their struggles. Another game-changer is Zion Williamson, who is in elite form. Over the last three games, he has racked up 88 points and 26 assists, demonstrating his dominance and making the Pelicans a genuine threat once again.
Houston Rockets
The Rockets boast one of the deepest rosters in the league, but the absence of Fred VanVleet has exposed some weaknesses. The starting point guard missed most of February, briefly returned, and is now sidelined again. Without him, their offence has struggled, ranking 26th in offensive efficiency (110.3 points). One of the biggest issues is turnovers. The Rockets have lost the turnover battle in 14 of their last 17 games, which could be a decisive factor against the fast-paced, athletic New Orleans Pelicans.
New Orleans Pelicans vs Houston Rockets Prediction
The Houston Rockets are far from their best form. In fact, the last time they covered a spread as a road favourite was way back on 18 January against the Portland Trail Blazers. Meanwhile, the Pelicans have been dominant at home and look far more reliable in their current form.
