Adam Williams presents his prediction for the NHL match.
The New York Rangers have fallen out of the playoff zone after back-to-back losses to Canadian teams (Calgary Flames 1:2, Edmonton Oilers 1:3). The Toronto Maple Leafs have also struggled, losing five of their last eight games, but they remain one of the NHL’s top five road teams this season.
New York Rangers
The Rangers have lost four straight home games, dropping them to ninth in the Eastern Conference. Defensive struggles have been the main issue, conceding 3.5 goals per game during this skid. Even in their last game against the Calgary Flames, they blew an early lead despite a quick goal from Artemi Panarin. However, the Rangers’ offense has been lacking support for their Russian star—scoring just seven goals in the last four home games.
Toronto Maple Leafs
After two consecutive losses, the Maple Leafs bounced back with wins against the Calgary Flames (6:2) and the Colorado Avalanche (2:1). Unlike the Rangers, the Maple Leafs’ struggles appear to be temporary rather than systemic. William Nylander has been on fire, recording points in nine straight games (5+8), while Auston Matthews has four goals and an assist in his last three outings. Additionally, the Maple Leafs rank fifth in the NHL for away performance, winning 19 of 32 road games.
New York Rangers vs Toronto Maple Leafs Prediction
Everything points toward the Toronto Maple Leafs having the upper hand—they excel on the road, while the Rangers have been poor at home. The Leafs also dominate in head-to-head matchups, winning five of the last seven meetings. However, with the Leafs playing back-to-back, we'll play it safe and take them with a +1 spread.
