Adam Williams presents his prediction for the Premiership Rugby match.
Newcastle Falcons once again put their focus on the Premiership Rugby Cup this season, but their campaign ended at the semi-final stage. Now, it’s back to the grind of league play, where the Falcons remain stuck at the bottom and with little hope of turning things around.
Newcastle Falcons
Even against a rotated Bath side—league leaders, but far from full strength—Newcastle Falcons came up short at home, losing 29:41. Outside the cup, their league form is dismal: eight consecutive losses in the Premiership and the EPCR Challenge Cup. One of their heavier defeats came against Sale Sharks, who thrashed them 43:10 in Round 4.
Sale Sharks
That result, however, came at home on Salford Community Stadium, where Sale Sharks have been strong—eight wins in their last 10 matches. But away from home, it's a different story: just three wins in that same span. Two of those came in the Premiership Cup against Championship opposition. The one notable exception? A stunning 38:0 away win over Bristol Bears, currently second in the table. Sale Sharks, meanwhile, sit seventh.
Newcastle Falcons vs Sale Sharks Prediction
When Sale Sharks last travelled to Kingston Park, Newcastle Falcons edged them 28:27 in the cup. But this is the Premiership, and the intensity will be far greater. In last season’s league clash, the Sharks cruised to a 35:14 win, and while a repeat of that margin isn’t guaranteed, a double-digit victory looks well within reach given the Falcons’ form and fragility.
