Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Oxford United continue to hover above the relegation zone, but their survival is largely down to the struggles of others rather than their own performances. Winless in seven league matches, they now face the daunting task of travelling to Carrow Road, where Norwich City have been solid all season.
Norwich City
Norwich City have had a mixed run of form in recent weeks, picking up just six points from their last five matches while dropping nine. However, their home form remains a stronghold—they’ve taken points from six of their last seven at Carrow Road, winning four and drawing twice. A common theme in those fixtures is that Norwich have conceded in every one, with only one of those games failing to see both teams score.
Oxford United
Oxford United’s lack of firepower is their biggest issue, explaining why they remain so close to the drop zone. In their last ten league matches, they could have salvaged three draws and even two wins had they managed to find the net just once in key moments. Their away form is particularly worrying, with four consecutive blanks on the road—though they did manage two goalless draws in that run. Overall, the Under 2.5 goals bet has been successful in all seven previous meetings outside the Kassam Stadium.
Norwich City vs Oxford United Prediction
Despite Norwich’s tendency to both score and concede at home, Oxford’s struggles in front of goal cannot be ignored. Given the visitors’ lack of attacking output on the road and Norwich’s ability to grind out results with low-scoring encounters, the best pick is a low-scoring affair.
