Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Both clubs played out a 2:2 draw in the previous round, but while this was a gain for Plymouth Argyle, it felt more like a loss for Norwich City. The hosts have a squad valued at twice that of Plymouth Argyle, but does that guarantee a win now?
Norwich City
It's becoming risky to assert that Norwich City will win. They have now gone seven matches without a win, accumulating just four points. They haven't faced formidable rivals during this run, perhaps except for Middlesbrough (3:3). West Bromwich Albion (2:2) have lost their leading momentum. Preston North End (2:2) and Cardiff City (1:2) are positioned even lower than 19th-placed Plymouth. What’s clear is that all these games have been high-scoring.
Plymouth Argyle
Plymouth Argyle are often involved in high-scoring matches too, but it largely depends on the opponent; they rarely dictate play unless the opposition allows it. In their last match, against Watford—known for their average of three goals per game—they drew 2:2, while against restrictive Millwall, they fell to a typical London scoreline of 0:1. Therefore, four of their last seven matches have gone over 2.5 goals. Norwich should contribute to the tally from their side.
Norwich City vs Plymouth Argyle Prediction
Since Plymouth Argyle’s return to the Championship last season, the clubs have delighted fans with goals. In Plymouth, the hosts won 6:2, while in Norwich, Norwich City secured a 2:1 victory. Our prediction is for at least three goals in the match.
