Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
With both teams effectively out of the playoff race, they will be playing for pride and consistency in the final stretch of the season.
Norwich City
Norwich City have fallen off the pace, despite sitting just six points off the top six. The intensity of the playoff battle suggests that catching up will be an uphill task. Their recent form has been uninspiring, as they failed to defeat any of the lower-ranked teams they faced in the last six matches. The only draw against a direct rival for the playoffs came against Blackburn Rovers (1:1), a team that has since dropped out of the race.
Sheffield Wednesday
Sheffield Wednesday occupy 13th place, technically still within reach of the playoff zone but requiring a remarkable turnaround to bridge the four-point gap to the top contenders. Their hopes were severely dented by three consecutive defeats, albeit against Coventry City (1:2), Burnley (0:4), and Sunderland (1:2)—all of whom sit in the top six. However, when faced with a more manageable opponent in Plymouth Argyle, Sheffield Wednesday bounced back emphatically with a 3:0 away win.
Norwich City vs Sheffield Wednesday Prediction
Interestingly, Sheffield Wednesday have been far more impressive away from home than at Hillsborough. While they rank 23rd in home form (22 points), their away record is among the league’s best (26 points, 5th place). Given their strong performances on the road and Norwich’s struggles against mid-table sides, a positive result for the visitors seems likely.
