Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the WTA Wimbledon match.
To the surprise of many, Madison Keys (world No. 8) made an unconvincing start to her Wimbledon campaign, scraping past Elena-Gabriela Ruse (No. 58). Her next opponent is Olga Danilovic (No. 37), who is showing far more consistent and composed tennis.
Olga Danilovic
Danilovic opened against China’s Zhang Shuai (No. 124) and came through comfortably (6:2, 6:4). What stood out most was her confidence under pressure — she converted 9 of 10 break points. On serve, she was nearly flawless, holding all nine service games with 74% efficiency on first serve.
Madison Keys
Keys, on the other hand, struggled mightily against Elena-Gabriela Ruse. All three sets were lengthy, each extending beyond 12 games, and she even dropped one of them (6:7, 7:5, 7:5). The American hit a whopping 34 unforced errors and converted just 6 of 11 break points. Grass hasn't been her strongest surface recently either — she was knocked out in the first round of the Berlin Masters.
Olga Danilovic vs Madison Keys Prediction
Bookmakers have pegged Keys as the clear favourite, but her form is far from convincing. While she shouldn’t be expected to lose outright, a straightforward win looks unlikely.
