Adam Williams presents his prediction for the EuroLeague match.
The first EuroLeague match under Duško Ivanović for Virtus Bologna was remarkably successful, as they managed to snatch a victory against Baskonia (82:81). However, now they face a much tougher opponent—Greek powerhouse Olympiacos, a leading contender in the tournament. Can the Serbian coach once again pull off a surprise against his adversary?
Olympiacos Piraeus
Olympiacos had a disappointing loss in their previous game. The players committed 17 turnovers, and Evan Fournier missed all 7 of his three-point attempts. There's no need to panic, though, as such games happen to every team. The key is how they address their mistakes. Georgios Bartzokas has often corrected previous missteps. After a defeat to Bayern, the Greeks secured two victories in Spain, and after losing to Partizan, they triumphed over Monaco, who hold second place.
Virtus Bologna
Duško Ivanović immediately demonstrated a focus on defence, which paid off, as Baskonia's leader Marcus Howard managed to hit only 2 of 14 from beyond the arc. However, Virtus cannot boast about their offensive performance. They converted just 7 out of 19 three-point attempts, with only three players scoring more than 10 points. Moreover, it's important to remember that their opponents were Baskonia, who are one of the underdogs in the EuroLeague.
Olympiacos Piraeus vs Virtus Bologna Prediction
We highly doubt Virtus can extend their winning streak. In fact, it's unlikely they'll be able to mount a strong challenge against Olympiacos, who, after a disappointing away series, will be determined to redeem themselves in front of their home fans.
