Adam Williams presents his prediction for the EuroLeague match.
The Greeks are set to face one of the weakest teams in this EuroLeague season, but this supposedly weaker side nearly outperformed one of the top contenders. Do you think it will be easy against the French?
Olympiacos
To Olympiacos, no opponent seems daunting. They've bested Real Madrid (79:69), Barcelona (95:74), as well as their arch-rivals Panathinaikos (94:89 in the EuroLeague). Currently riding a five-game winning streak, they show no signs of slowing down. Notably, Sasha Vezenkov leads the team in nearly every category, including points (17.9), making him nearly unstoppable.
ASVEL
Last weekend, ASVEL managed a thrilling victory over Nanterre in the French Championship (109:103), but not without showing weaknesses: they blew a 25-point lead after the first quarter. Before that, they had suffered six defeats in seven matches. Indeed, ASVEL kept pace with Fenerbahçe, but ultimately couldn't close the gap, despite narrowing it to two points at one stage. Nando De Colo's 18-point effort melted away uselessly (73-77).
Olympiacos vs ASVEL Prediction
Last season, their game at the Peace and Friendship Stadium ended disastrously for the French club—64:80. Even the close match against Fenerbahçe does not convince us that ASVEL can put up much of a fight against Olympiacos, so expect a rout.
