Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Europa League match.
Olympiacos face an uphill battle after suffering a first-leg defeat in Norway, but they remain a side capable of turning things around, especially at home. Bodø/Glimt have defensive weaknesses that could be exposed in Piraeus, making for an open and attacking second leg.
Olympiacos
The first-leg 3:1 loss was Olympiacos’ first defeat since October, a period in which they solidified their position at the top of the Greek Super League. Despite the scoreline, the Greeks created 1.99 xG and took 18 shots (compared to just nine for Bodø/Glimt), suggesting the result was more about poor finishing than a lack of chances. At home, they have been dominant, winning five of their last six matches and scoring 14 goals in that run.
Bodø/Glimt
Bodø/Glimt, on the other hand, are still in pre-season domestically, having only played competitive matches in the Europa League this year. While they have been impressive in attack, their defence has struggled on the road, conceding six goals in their last three away games in this competition (two defeats and one draw). With midfielder Albert Grønbæk out injured, the Norwegian champions will need to adjust their midfield setup, which could affect their ability to control the game.
Olympiacos vs Bodø/Glimt Prediction
Given Olympiacos’ attacking urgency and Bodø/Glimt’s counter-attacking threat, this match is likely to be another end-to-end battle. Both teams play with high pressing lines, meaning chances will come at both ends.
