Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the UEFA Conference League match.
Olympiacos
Reaching the Conference League semi-finals was already a miracle for Olympiacos as the Greek side had hardly managed to beat Maccabi and Fenerbahçe in the previous rounds. They beat Aston Villa twice (4:2 and 2:0). However, Olympiacos failed to beat PAOK, who would become the Greek champion, (0:2) and ended their game against Panathinaikos (2:2) finishing 3rd in the domestic league. Olympiacos have conceded at least a goal in 9 out of their last 11 games. They’re unlikely to improve the statistics playing against a very strong offensive line of the Italian side.
Fiorentina
Fiorentina have scored at least a goal in the last 11 games. The last round of the Italian Serie A saw Fiorentina beating Cagliari because of two goals scored in the last minutes of the match (3:2). Fiorentina had 1.20 xG and 63% ball possession. Another interesting fact is that 5 players of the Italian side have made 3+ useful offensive actions (goals or assists) in the current edition of the Conference League.
Olympiacos – Fiorentina prediction
The way Olympiacos have reached the final is unlikely to surprise Fiorentina that have reached the decisive match for the second consecutive time. The Italian side has an advantage as they played their domestic league game on the last weekend while Olympiacos played their last game on May 19.
Fiorentina were close to take the trophy a year ago. However, they were defeated by West Ham (1:2). Now the Italian team is likely to prove they’re favourites. The local support won’t help Olympiacos.
